(Australian Missionary in Korea, 1960-1972)

 

We congratulate Professor Ji-il Tark and the Reverend Myong Duk Yang for this important work on the Reverend Alan Stuart’s work as a missionary in Korea, where his wife Mrs Rita Stuart played a key role alongside Alan.

We worked with and close by Alan and Rita during the 1960s and had a huge regard for them. We recall Alan’s difficult, wise, mediating role within the Presbytery; his major contribution to the seminary in Pusan; his development of new and small congregations; and Rita’s motherly, wise, pastoral role with other missionaries, especially women.

Alan and Rita were humble, wise, gracious and friendly. They brought a genuine Christ-like approach to their life and work in Korea. We remember them warmly.

Prof Tark and Rev Yang, thank you for honoring Alan & Rita’s work in this way.

존 & 노마 브라운 목사

(한국선교사, 1960년~1972년)

 

한국에서 선교사로 활동하신 알란 스튜어트 목사님의 이야기를 한 권의 중요한 책으로 작업한 탁지일 교수님과 양명득 목사님께 축하를 드립니다. 알란 스튜어트 목사님의 부인 리타 스튜어트 여사도 알란과 함께 중요한 역할을 하셨습니다.

우리는 1960년대에 알란과 리타와 함께 일하며 친밀한 관계를 맺었고, 두 분을 깊이 존경했습니다. 노회에서 알란과 리타 선교사님이 보여주신 어렵고도 지혜로운 중재자 역할, 부산신학교에 대한 그의 큰 공헌, 새롭고 작은 교회들을 발전시키는 그의 역할, 그리고 리타 선교사님이 다른 선교사들, 특히 여성 선교사들을 위해 보여주신 어머니 같은 지혜롭고 목회적인 역할을 기억합니다.

알란과 리타 선교사님은 겸손하고 지혜로우며 은혜롭고 친절하셨습니다. 두 분은 한국에서의 삶과 활동에 진정한 그리스도를 닮은 모습을 보여주셨습니다. 우리는 두 분을 따뜻하게 기억합니다.

탁지일 교수님과 양명득 목사님, 알란과 리타 선교사님의 선교 사역을 이런 방법으로 기려주셔서 감사합니다.
