On behalf of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland, I am delighted to send greetings on the occasion of the publication of Deaconess Catherine Laing’s letters and reports.

 

It is a joy to read about people such as Deaconess Laing, who had a deep love for the people of Korea, that they might come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a further joy to see how she stirred up others from Australia so that they joined her in the glorious task of serving people in the gospel. We applaud her deep desire to see Korean people themselves trained to pass the gospel on so that they could take part in the five-year Bible Institute course in Fusan. We praise God for the evangelistic gifts He gave to Deaconess Laing.

 

We join with you in praising God for what He did among the people of Korea as the gospel took root in the lives of the men and women who “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” [1 Thessalonians 1:9-10].

 

What a glorious day it will be to stand before the living God on the great and final day, worshipping Him with people “from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages” and “and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” [Revelation 7:9-10]

 

We are grateful for the small part that missionaries from the Presbyterian Church of Queensland, such as Deaconess Laing, have been able to play in assembling that great multitude that no one could number [Revelation 7:9].

 

We pray that in His great mercy, God might raise up many more people such as Deaconess Laing who will call men and women everywhere to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

디커니스 캐서린 레잉의 편지와 보고서 출판을 맞아 퀸즐랜드장로교회를 대신하여 여러분께 안부를 전하게 되어 기쁘게 생각합니다.

레잉과 같이 예수 그리스도 구원의 소식을 전하며 한국인을 깊게 사랑한 사람에 관하여 읽는 것은 즐거운 일입니다. 호주에서 파송되어 다른 나라 사람들에게 전도하며, 그들도 복음 안에서 영광스러운 선교에 동참하는 것은 더욱 기쁜 일입니다. 그녀가 부산의 5년 과정 성경학원에서 학생들을 열정으로 가르친 것에 박수를 보냅니다. 하나님이 그녀에게 주신 복음 전도 은사로 인하여 우리는 주님을 찬양합니다.

한국인 가운데 뿌리를 내린 복음으로 인하여 하나님께 감사하는 여러분과 우리도 함께 합니다. “우리가 어떻게 너희 가운데에 들어갔는지와 너희가 어떻게 우상을 버리고 하나님께로 돌아와서 살아 계시고 참되신 하나님을 섬기는지와 또 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리신 그의 아들이 하늘로부터 강림하실 것을 너희가 어떻게 기다리는지를 말하니 이는 장래의 노하심에서 우리를 건지시는 예수시니라.”(살전 1:9-10)

“이 일 후에 내가 보니 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리가 나와 흰옷을 입고 손에 종려 가지를 들고 보좌 앞과 어린 양 앞에 서서 큰소리로 외쳐 이르되 구원하심이 보좌에 앉으신 우리 하나님과 어린 양에게 있도다.”(계 7:9-10)

퀸즐랜드장로교회가 레잉 같은 선교사를 통하여 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리에 동참하게 되는 작은 부분을 감당하게 되어 감사하게 생각합니다.

은혜의 하나님께서 레잉과 같은 선교사를 더 많이 일으키시어 세상의 모든 남녀를 그리스도의 구원으로 인도하시기를 기도합니다.
